The STA (Structural Timber Association), formerly the UK Timber Frame Association, has expanded to take on a broader scope of timber in construction. The STA has high standards of quality that are there to protect and give confidence to the building industry and to the general public (self-build clients). The STA has been extremely proactive with the issues of fire in construction and has been responsible for a workable solution that is accepted by the HSE, Local Authority and other government authorities. The STA works in close collaboration with the NHBC, LABC and other building control agencies.
The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) through independent third-party certification. PEFC UK was established in 2000 and is the member of PEFC International. PEFC International is an umbrella organisation that endorses national forest certification systems developed through multi-stakeholder processes and tailored to local priorities and conditions. Merronbrook is registered with PEFC for buying timber from sustainable sources.
