Speed and familiarity: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Having worked with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/daniel-destecroix-5a6436380\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Dan Destecroix<\/span><\/a>, Managing Director at DHC previously, Merronbrook was appointed again to support the delivery of this bespoke private home.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis was a detached new-build home with habitable roof space. We delivered the full timber frame structure along with structural steel supports,\u201d<\/em> explained Gavin Alderslade, Business Development Manager at Merronbrook.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe developer DHC regularly builds in timber frame and values speed. That\u2019s a big part of why it was chosen.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>For DHC, programme efficiency is central to their approach. Designed and manufactured off-site, the timber frame system offered:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Guaranteed quality and minimal waste<br \/>\n\u2022 Predictable installation timelines<br \/>\n\u2022 Rapid construction<br \/>\n\u2022 Reduced on-site labour<\/p>\n<p>Dan shared his experience during installation: <em>\u201cTimber frame combines speed and quality, and as a developer, that means progress on a project is fantastic. Couldn\u2019t ask for a better team on the job.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Maximising roof space within a complex layout:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The key objective was to fully utilise the roof space while maintaining the integrity of the architectural layout.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe key objective was maximising usable roof space. It was an L-shaped building with a room-in-roof design, which introduced complexity around hips, dormers and head height,\u201d <\/em>shared Gavin.<\/p>\n<p>Merronbrook provided early-stage design input to ensure the roof layout was both buildable and compliant.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe had to refine the positioning of dormers and adjust some door locations to ensure head height compliance. Our design support enabled accurate roof geometry and full utilisation of the habitable roof space. That\u2019s where experience really comes into play \u2014 making the design buildable without compromising layout,\u201d <\/em>added Gavin.<\/p>\n<p>Key design considerations included:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Adjustments to dormer positioning<br \/>\n\u2022 Head height compliance within the room-in-roof layout<br \/>\n\u2022 Coordinating structural steels<br \/>\n\u2022 Refining door locations to maximise usable space<\/p>\n<p>Merronbrook\u2019s technical involvement ensured the roof space could be fully compliant, deliver the maximum liveable space and ensure build efficiency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Delivering buildable design through early expertise and quality assurance\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The complete timber frame and steel package was designed, manufactured, and delivered in accordance with Merronbrook\u2019s standard internal quality assurance processes, ensuring structural accuracy and compliance throughout installation.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe project demonstrates how early technical input can resolve roof geometry and layout challenges before they become on-site issues.
