Merronbrook supplied a bespoke timber frame system to support Village Maid Cheese in expanding their production facility, ensuring a successful build and seamless project execution.
Merronbrook delivers a swift build for Village Maid Cheese
Village Maid Cheese, an award-winning artisan cheesemaker based in Riseley, needed additional production space to meet growing demand, particularly during the busy festive period. Merronbrook provided a tailored timber frame solution, adding 155 sq m of production space, with the entire project from order to onsite sign-off delivered in just 8 weeks.
Anne Wigmore, Founder and Director at Village Maid Cheese, shared her experience: “Working with Merronbrook was a seamless and efficient process. Their support and expertise enabled us to complete our build within three days of schedule, allowing us to meet increased Christmas demand – an undiluted success!”
Merronbrook products supplied:
• Timber frame system – external wall package with fire-retardant sheathing board, and 4-5 internal walls.
• Roof trusses – without insulation, suited to the building’s industrial food production use.
Merronbrook offers an open panel system, using a 140mm CLS stud for external walls and 90mm for internal walls. This is then clad externally with 9mm OSB ply, with a reflector shield breather paper. Combined with the trussed rafters, Merronbrook provides a comprehensive timber frame kit solution, available for both supply and installation.
Customisation options ensured that the client could opt not to have insulation and meet their own specialist industry requirements, such as HSE-compliant kitchen-grade linings applied to internal walls.
Efficient project execution helps Village Maid meet Christmas demand:
Merronbrook worked directly with the client to understand the project’s specific needs and provide a detailed quotation.
Expert technical support and off-site manufacture enables Merronbrook to achieve rapid project timelines. In this case, 8 weeks from the order being placed to construction being signed off by Sean Burgess, who oversees on-site Quality Assurance for Merronbrook.
The comprehensive service included technical drawings, followed by design refinements requested by the client. The products were then manufactured at Merronbrook’s Hampshire facility and delivered to site. During the construction phase, Dillon Lodge provided project management and on-site support to ensure smooth execution. On-site Quality Assurance was conducted by Sean Burgess, ensuring full compliance with engineering standards, and the final handover took place at the end of July 2024, meaning the local business could expand ahead of the Christmas rush.
